Meet Mabuhay! Philippine Cultural Community Queen Candidate for the International Festival Queen Pageant! She will be representing the Philippines! Check out her short bio below. My name is Micah Yason @micahclarisse . I am 18 years old, a rising sophomore at IUPUI, and currently studying Global and International studies. I’ve chosen this particular major because of the major globalization that is happening in the world right now. I have always been involved in my community from a young age. My love for service and compassion for others grew as I participated in my local girls’ youth ministry at my Catholic grade school. From fifth grade to now, I have helped serve our community through various volunteering opportunities. I’ve volunteered at our local food pantry, soup kitchen, animal shelter, heath centers, homeless shelters, and more! Every retreat and ever act of service has made an impact on my views of the world. I am passionate about being able to help those in need whether it be through funding or ever just being there to make them smile. Kindness and compassion cannot be measured because of the priceless impact that it can make on people. As for my involvement in extracurricular activities at school, I love to participate in cultural and volunteering organizations. In the past I’ve been involved in clubs and orgs such as Filipino Student Association, Mabuhay! Philippine Cultural Community, Asian Student Union, French Club, Japanese Club, Sunshine Society, FCCLA, National Art Honor Society, Student Leadership Academy, and many more. Being involved on campus is also an integral part of being able to learn and educate ourselves to thus create a better community and environment for people to be in. This is also the message of Mabuhay! PCC. In our organization we prioritize the cultural education of our community. We are proud to be part of the Filipino community and we are here to have our voices heard. We want people outside of the community to be educated on our traditions and cultures.
We were invited back to Eli Lilly's AMECA DAY for their employees. It was great to represent the Philippines and educate others about our wonderful culture that we can share.
