Santacruzan

All are welcome to attend this cultural program.

Flores de Mayo is a vibrant festival celebrated in the Philippines honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Santacruzan is a religious-historical pageant commemorating Queen Helena’s search of the Holy Cross. In this reenactment of Queen Helena finding the Holy Cross, young women, representing different values or religious and historical characters, parade through the streets with their escorts under hand-carried bamboo arcs decorated with fragrant native flowers. The Obando Festival is an event celebrated annually in Obando, Bulacan, Philippines. This festival is celebrated in May when many Filipinos, especially women, come to dance to celebrate and give thanks for their children or for having children.

This event will include a Mass, procession (at 3 p.m.), pitch-in dinner, dance and pabitin game.

This event includes a pitch-in dinner. The organization will provide water, rice, soda, coffee. We ask each family to bring a dish (depending on what side of Indianapolis you are from):

  • East: Meat dish
  • South: Chicken dish
  • West: Vegetable dish
  • North: Noodles dish

Attire is native or dressy nice.
